Ferozkoh: Tradition and Continuity in Afghan Art
In 2013, The Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar, invited the artisans of Turquoise Mountain to take part in an exhibition, Ferozkoh: Tradition and Continuity in Afghan Art.
16 of Turquoise Mountain's artisans travelled to Qatar to spend time with ancient artefacts in the archives of The Museum of Islamic Art in Doha. The artisans then produced over 40 pieces displayed alongside, and in conversation with, treasures from the Museum's permanent collection.
The exhibition was opened by the patrons of Turquoise Mountain and the Museum of Islamic Art, HRH The Prince of Wales and HE Shaikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani. Tens of thousands of people visited the exhibition during its run, including former President of Afghanistan HE Hamid Karzai, and the exhibition then travelled to London’s Leighton House Museum.
