Craftsmanship and Community: 20 Years of Turquoise Mountain
Turquoise Mountain celebrates 20th anniversary with exhibition at London’s Garrison Chapel
Founded in Afghanistan in 2006 by His Majesty King Charles III, for 20 years Turquoise Mountain has supported artisans and communities to protect and revitalise cultural heritage. Craftsmanship and Community: 20 Years of Turquoise Mountain is our first major retrospective.
The displays will offer a rare opportunity to encounter master artisans and their work across a broad range of techniques and design traditions. The exhibition will be presented in the beautifully restored Garrison Chapel at the heart of London’s Chelsea Barracks, just behind the creatively vibrant Pimlico Road. The collection explores the special connection that artisans have to the crafts they practice, and includes hand-woven carpets and textiles, embroidery, jewellery, hand-blown glass, woodwork, ceramics, tilework, stonework, miniature painting and lacquerware.
The exhibition will feature craft demonstrations by artisans and pop-up displays by our retail partners. All the display pieces will be available to order, either directly through our retail partners or as bespoke commissions from master artisans through Turquoise Mountain. As a charity, Turquoise Mountain does not profit from the sale of artisan products. All revenues provide income to artisans and contribute to our wider charitable mission.
