The Murad Khani Primary School
The Murad Khani Primary School provides education to 120 students each year in eight subjects including Education, English, Mathematics, and Dari. In keeping with the rich craft heritage of Murad Khani, children also learn Calligraphy and Painting, and take part in community events.
Turquoise Mountain recently opened a new primary school building in Murad Khani, thanks to the generous support of our donors. The new building has four classrooms as well as a gymnasium, two garden spaces, a library, and a nursery for smaller children. Built almost entirely using traditional construction techniques and locally-sourced materials, the school is an example of traditional, beautiful, and sustainable Afghan architecture, with solar panels for electric and water heating provision further improving its environmentally friendly profile.
